Big Rock Energy: Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 7, 2026
Developer: D.N. Sampson (“we”, “us”). Contact: hello@dnsampson.com
Big Rock Energy (“the game”) is a game for Android, iOS and PC. You don’t need an account to play, and we don’t run any servers that receive your data. This policy explains what is collected when you play, by whom, and what you can choose.
What stays on your device
Your settings, progress, best score and the purchases you own (for example “Remove Ads”) are saved in a file on your device. We do not receive it. Deleting the game deletes it.
Ads (Android and iOS)
The free mobile versions show occasional full-screen ads between runs (never during a run). Ads are provided by Google AdMob, which uses Google’s Mobile Ads SDK. We do not receive the data below; Google and its ad partners do, and they process it under their own policies (https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites).
To show, measure and protect against fraud in ads, the SDK may collect:
- your device’s advertising identifier (Android advertising ID or iOS IDFA, where you allow it) and app/device identifiers such as an app set ID;
- your IP address, which can be used to estimate your general (approximate) location;
- how you interact with ads and the app (for example app launches, taps, video views);
- performance and diagnostic information (for example app launch time, hang rate, energy use, crash logs).
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos or microphone data.
Your choices:
- Consent. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland (and where US state laws require it) Google’s consent message asks you before ads are set up. You can change your choice any time: Settings → AD PRIVACY OPTIONS (the button appears when the consent message applies to you). If you do not consent, you may still see ads, but they are not personalized, or no ads are requested, depending on your region and choice.
- iPhone/iPad. The game asks for Apple’s permission to track you across other companies’ apps and websites. If you say no, the advertising identifier is not shared for tracking and ads are not personalized. You can change this later in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Android. You can reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of ads personalization in your device’s Settings (Google → Ads).
- Remove Ads. If you buy “Remove Ads”, the game stops showing ads and no longer starts the ads SDK. On the first launch after reinstalling, the consent message and the ads SDK may start once until the store confirms your purchase; ads are still not shown.
- We tell Google that the game is not child-directed and set a maximum ad content rating of “PG”.
Purchases
Purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see your payment details. The game asks the store which items you own so it can unlock and restore them (Settings → RESTORE PURCHASES on iOS; Android restores automatically). Stores keep purchase records under their own policies.
Leaderboards (Android and iOS)
If you sign in to Google Play Games (Android) or Game Center (iOS), your score and your player identity (such as your player name and avatar, depending on your profile settings) are sent to that service so they can appear on the leaderboard. This is handled by Google or Apple under their policies, and what others can see depends on your Play Games / Game Center privacy settings. Signing in is optional; you can play without it, but Google Play Games may sign you in automatically if you are already signed in to Play Games on your device. Google Play Games data can be managed at https://play.google.com/games/profile; for Game Center, use your Apple ID settings.
Crash reports and analytics
The game itself includes no analytics or crash-reporting tool. Diagnostic data mentioned under “Ads” is collected by the ads SDK. Google Play and the App Store may give us aggregated crash or usage statistics about the game that do not identify you.
PC version
The PC version has no ads and no purchases, does not need an internet connection to play and collects no personal data.
Children
The game is intended for players aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the game or its partners, contact us and we will help get it removed.
Retention and security
We keep nothing on our own servers. Data held by Google, Apple and ad partners is kept according to their policies. Google’s SDKs are designed to use encrypted connections.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EEA/UK under the GDPR, or US states such as California) you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the use of personal data, and to opt out of “sale”, “sharing” or targeted advertising. Because we hold no data about you, requests about ad data are handled by Google (https://myaccount.google.com and https://policies.google.com/privacy) and about leaderboard/purchase data by Google or Apple. You can also use the consent and tracking controls above. Contact us at hello@dnsampson.com with any question and we will point you to the right place.
International transfers
Google and Apple may process data in countries other than yours, under their own safeguards.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update this page and the effective date. Material changes will be announced in the game’s store listing or update notes.
